Funeral services for Ray Edward Lashley, age 84, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Abanda Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette City Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2016, and Saturday, November 19, 2016. Mr. Lashley will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday. Mr. Lashley passed away Thursday, November 17. 2016, at his residence. Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Cofield of Roanoke and Nancy Henderson (Max) of Lafayette; one son, Donald Lashley (Eden) of Clacksville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Bertice Smolinski of Montgomery, Betty Lashley of Camp Hill, and Mary Nell of Portland, OR. Pallbearers will be Adam Coker, Bruce Davidson, Kevin Baldwin, Scott Green, Lynn Coker, and Randy McGill. A Chambers County native, Mr. Lashley was born on April 12, 1932, the son of John Burt and Willie Mae Sikes Lashley. He was a member of Abanda Baptist Church and opened the Country Catfish Camp in 1984 and owned and operated it for 15 years. Mr. Lashley was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lena Mae Lashley.
