Funeral services for James “Jim” E. Kirby, age 83, of Five Points, AL, will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016, at 1:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roger Hammett officiating. Burial will follow at Five Points Belcher Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Friday.
Mr. Kirby passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at his home.
Survivors include his wife Hazel O’ Donald Kirby of Five Points, AL; three daughters, Deborah Williamson of Five Points, AL, Rhonda Morse of Five Points, AL, and Tonya Todd of Lanett, AL; three sons, James Michael Kirby, Craig E. Kirby, and Michael E. Kirby, all of Five Points, AL; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy B. Foster of Valley, AL; and one brother, Harry Kirby of Columbia, MO.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Coker, Brandon O’ Donald, Jerry Camp, Henry Kirby, Jordan Kirby, Travis Morse, Joshua Morse, and Eli Kirby.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Kirby was born on October 18, 1933, the son of James B. and Gertie Mae Smith Kirby. He was a member of Five Points Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran, and had worked for West End Mill Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Dorothy Akins.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
