Obituary of Michael D. "Mike" Taylor

Funeral services for Michael D. “Mike” Taylor, age 70, of Roanoke, will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 11:00 AM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Derek Farr and Rev. Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
Mr. Taylor passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Noles Taylor of Roanoke; one daughter, Nikki Morrison (husband, Tal) of Alex City, AL; two grandsons, Jake Morrison of Alex City, AL and Judd Morrison of Alex City, AL; one sister, Sybil Stephens (husband, Jerry) of Wadley; one brother, Gene Taylor of Wadley; and five nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jon Taylor, Connor Taylor, Malcom Bassett, Pete Mitchell, Tommy Weathers, and Mark Hale.
A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Taylor was born on May 11, 1946, the son of Durwood Ruben and Lula Mae Knight Taylor. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and had worked for Transcontinental in Wadley, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Paul Parrish; two daughters, Kelly and Christy Taylor; and one sister, Kathy Kirk.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Heritage Baptist Church, 1985 Omaha Road, Roanoke, AL 36274 or Faith Baptist Church, 820 Gordon Street, Roanoke, AL 36274.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
