Obituary of Claude Edward Denham

Funeral services for Claude Edward Denham, age 79, of Roanoke, will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at High Pine Baptist Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.
Mr. Denham passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Traylor’s Nursing Center.
Survivors include: one son, Earl Hall (wife, Mavis); three grandchildren, Jennifer Flourney, Jeffrey Earl Hall, and Shelley Ann Kirby; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Denham was born on October 14, 1937, the son of George and Mary Lizzie Pullen Denham. He was a member of High Pine Baptist Church and worked as a weaver at Amoco Fabrics. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Blackmon Denham; two grandsons, Jared Bradley Hall and Christopher Pinkard; and four brothers, Carlos Denham, Herbert Denham, Clyde Denham, and Tommy Denham.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
