Obituary of Miriam C. George

Funeral services for Miriam C. George, age 88, of Franklin, GA, will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Farlow officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30-2:00 PM on Sunday, January 22 before services begin.
Mrs. George passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, at her residence.
Survivors include: one son, Willis E. Cook (wife, Elizabeth) of Roanoke; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two stepsisters, Sue Smith of Atlanta, GA, and Jeanette Smith of Florida.
Pallbearers will be Barry Cook, Brandon Norris, Tyler Buttrill, Michael Cook, Grant Culbertson, and Jason Exum. Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Levens.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. George was born on March 22, 1928, the daughter of Helf Edon and Mary Lou Frost Smith. She was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Franklin, Georgia, and worked as a twister/winder at Hillside Mills in LaGrange. Mrs. George was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis George; and three sisters, Lona Grant, Nell Haygood, and Jean Abner.

About Us
Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
