Obituary of Louise Benefield

Funeral services for Louise Benefield, age 90, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Gerald Romine and Bro. Thomas Wortham officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Woods Cemetery in Wedowee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2017. Mrs. Benefield passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at her residence. Survivors include: three daughters, Gale Wood (husband, Tommy) of Roanoke, Carol Cofield (husband, Sam) of Valley, and Anita Benefield of Roanoke; two sons, Winston Benefield (wife, Kay) of Oneonta, AL, and Roy Doug Benefield (wife, Darla) of Wedowee; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie W. Bailey of Roanoke; and one brother, Quinton Wortham of Wedowee. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Benefield, Michael Wood, Matt Blackstock, Kenny Caroll, Tyler Nelson, Justin Johnson, Greg Maddox, and Sam Blackston. A Wedowee native, Mrs. Benefield was born on November 5, 1926, the daughter of Joseph Winston and Aurelia Wright Wortham. She was a member of the Roanoke Church of Christ and worked as a seamstress for Palm Beach. Mrs. Benefield was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin L. Benefield; one sister, Esther Wortham; and eight brothers, Jim, Willie, Alphes, Ermis, Doug, Coolidge, R. C., and Lowell Wortham. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Randolph County Learning Center or the Roanoke Church of Christ.
