Obituary of Ann Awbrey Glass
Funeral services for Ann Awbrey Glass, age 91, of Roanoke, will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Roanoke Church of Christ with Bro. Gerald Romine officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM on Monday.
Mrs. Glass passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Traylor’s Retirement Community.
Survivors include three daughters, Sarah Elizabeth “Libby” Whaley (husband, Larry), Leisel Glass Caldwell (husband, Lavoy), and Laura Glass Lumpkin (husband, Wade), all of Roanoke; one son-in-law, Charles May of Roanoke; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Chuck May, Chris May, Jimbo Robinson, Trae Bonner, Randall Adams, and Will Lumpkin.
A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mrs. Glass was born on November 9, 1925, the daughter of Henry Pate and Willie C. Chalkley Awbrey. She was a member of Roanoke Church of Christ and had been employed by Palm Beach and Roanoke City Schools as an administrative assistant. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William L. “Bill” Glass; one daughter, Lynda May; one granddaughter, Chastity Smith; one grandson, Robbie Whaley; and one brother, Jack Awbrey.
