Obituary of Kenneth "Joe" Staples

Funeral services for Kenneth "Joe" Staples, age 85, of Roanoke, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Scott Whaley officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 24th.
Mr. Staples died Monday, May 22, 2017, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Mitchum Staples of Roanoke; three sons, Rick Staples of Louisville, Kentucky, Kenneth W. Staples (wife, Gail) of LaGrange, Georgia and Roger Barfield of Roanoke; a son-in-law, Johnny Parker of Roanoke; one brother, Mike Staples (wife, Joan) of Atlanta; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Lashley, John Barry, Jesse Parker, Johnny Parker, Roger Barfield, and Randy Hudson.
A Harris County, Georgia native, Mr. Staples was born July 11, 1931, the son of William B. and Ida Pearl Pogue Staples.  He was a self-employed roofer.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sarah M. Staples; one daughter, Janice K. Parker; two brothers, Jack Staples and Coleman Staples; one sister, Jean Lashley; and one grandson, Cody J. Staples.
