Obituary of Mattie Ruth Royston

Funeral services for Mattie Ruth Royston, age 92, of Roanoke, will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Antioch Christian Church with Rev. Stanley Yarbrough and Rev. Anthony Herren officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Christian Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to services on Wednesday.

Mrs. Royston passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Traylor’s Nursing Home.

Survivors include: one daughter, Joye Adcock of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Collin Adcock (wife, Emily) of Auburn and Allison Bryant (husband, Jeffrey) of Newnan; three great-grandchildren, Colton Adcock, Kennedy Adcock, and Grayson Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Royston; Johnny Williams; Collin Adcock; Walter Sudduth; Sam Shellnutt; and Jeffrey Bryant.

A Roanoke native, Mrs. Royston was born on May 12, 1925, the daughter of John Alonza and Thelma Burdette Williams. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church and worked as a supervisor at Palm Beach.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Frank “Buck” Royston; son, James U. “Jimmy” Royston: son-in-law, Wayne Adcock; and two brothers, Eugene Williams and Calvin Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Antioch Christian Church Cemetery Fund c/o Frank Benford at 3461 County Road 241, Roanoke, AL 36274.
