OBITUARY Funeral services for, Mrs. Julia Mabel Hodges Story, age 80, of Birmingham, will be held 10:00 am, Monday, February 21, 2011, from the Concord Primitive Baptist church with Rev. Todd Henderson, Rev. Ed Grooms, and Elder Barry Cordes officiating. Mrs. Story will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the funeral home on Sunday, February 20, 2011. Mrs. Story died, Friday, February 18, 2011 at Golden Living Health Care in Birmingham, AL. Mrs. Story is survived by one daughter-in-law, Linda Hodges of Trussville; one grandson, Thad Hodges (wife Jennifer) of Birmingham; one sister, Dovie Tobin Burton (husband Ned of Roanoke; one step-daughter, Diane Story; two step-grandsons, Cody and Joey Brown; two step-grand-daughters, Daphne Darda and Samantha Hudson; seven step-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews. Mrs. Story was born, May 19, 1930, the daughter of Elder Luther and Verna Bugg Parrish. She resided in Birmingham many years and later returned to Roanoke. Mrs. Story was an active member of Lowell Methodist church, teaching and participating in all the activities of the church as long as health permitted. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, cooking and entertaining, was an avid reader. She enjoyed her family, was a homemaker and passionate about her nursing career. Mrs. Story was preceded ind eath by her husband M. Thad Hodges; second husband, Preston Story; her parents; one son, Steve Hodges; two step-sons, Milford and Ray Hodges; one step-son Willis Dye; three brothers, Raymond, Dennis and Hubert Parrish; three sisters, June Parrish, Ruth Liles; Elsie Wood Ritch.
