Obituary of Shirley JoAnn Foster
Funeral services for Shirley JoAnn Foster, age 81, of Rock Mills will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Franklin Foster, Jr., and Rev. Mark Aills officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Mrs. Foster will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Thursday.
Mrs. Foster passed away Monday, August 28, 2017, at her residence.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Rev. Franklin D. Foster, Sr., of Rock Mills; two daughters, Vickie Vollenweider (husband, David) of Roanoke and Pam Hay (husband, Dale) of Wadley; two sons, Franklin D. Foster, Jr., (wife, Sherry) of Roanoke and Dwayne Foster (wife, Cheryl) of Rock Mills; ten grandchildren, Amanda Green (Charlie), Trae Foster (Laura), Ashley Johnson (Brian), Andrew Vollenweider (Kasey), Katie Vollenwider, Keishia Foster, Cody Foster, Stephen Hay (Hanna), Nichole Bennett (Brandon), and Whitney Hay; 13 great-grandchildren; honorary daughter, Ronda Whitaker; one sister, Ruby Reagan of Childersburg; one brother, Jimmy Boggs of Rock Mills; one sister-in-law, Nancy Hicks; and a special cousin, Peggy Wilford of Rock Mills.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Green, Trae Foster, Brian Johnson, Brandon Bennett, Andrew Vollenweider, Cody Foster. Honorary pallbearer will be Stephen Hay.
A Rock Mills native, Mrs. Foster was born on May 31, 1936, the daughter of Jesse Willard Boggs and Willis Turner Boggs Folsom. She was a member of Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene and was a devoted 20-year military wife, school teacher’s wife, and minister’s wife. Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Edker Folsom; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Frances Foster; and brother-in-law, Lamar Foster.
