Obituary of Jasper Hoyt Bowen

Funeral services for Jasper Hoyt Bowen, age 83, of Roanoke, formerly of Woodland, will be held Monday, September 18, 2017, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed Halsey officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Monday.

Mr. Bowen died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Yeager (husband, Mark) of Wedowee and Pam Kirby (husband, Bryan) of Roanoke; one son, Keith Bowen (wife, Rebecca) of St. Augustine, Florida; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Kirby, Tyler Kirby, Mark Yeager, Sam Yeager, Justin Yeager and Hunter Smith.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Bowen was born September 23, 1933, the son of Jesse and Elizabeth Benefield Bowen.  He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and had been employed as an aircraft mechanic with Eastern Airlines in Atlanta.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Towler Bowen; three brothers, Hollis Bowen, Winford Bowen and Milner Bowen; two sisters, Mamie Bailey and Etha Mae Noles.

Memorials may be floral or the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, 17th Floor, Chicago, IL  60601-7633.
