Obituary of James D. Birdsong, Jr.
Private family services for James Dorsey Birdsong Jr., age 97, of Roanoke, AL, will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2017, from Quattlebaum Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
Mr. Birdsong passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Roanoke Health Care.
Survivors include: one daughter, Betty Brown (husband, Wayne) of Roanoke; two grandsons, Rusty Brown of Opelika and Tracy Brown of Roanoke; and one great-grandchild.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Birdsong was born on November 1, 1919, the son of James Dorsey and Cora Lee Siggers Birdsong. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and worked at Handley Mills. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Bridges Birdsong; two brothers, Kyle Birdsong of Fall River, MA and John Y. Birdsong of El Reno, OK, and one sister, Ruth Slagle of Roanoke.
