Obituary of Rev. John L. Bishop
Funeral services for Rev. John L. Bishop, age 71, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 3:00 PM from Cornerstone Church with Rev. Tim Whaley officiating. Private burial will follow at Corinth Christian Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at Cornerstone Church from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, March 11 before services begin.
Rev. Bishop passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, at UAB Palliative & Comfort Care in Birmingham.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bishop of Roanoke; three daughters, Becky Cooper (husband, Gary) of Roanoke, Mary Roberson (husband, Joseph) of Auburn, and Lara Keahey of Grove Hill, AL; one son, John Nance Bishop (wife, Cindy) of Auburn; 14 grandchildren; and one brother, Brad Bishop of Birmingham.
Pallbearers will be Gary Cooper, Joseph Roberson, Luke Farmer, Matthew Farmer, Roc Bishop, Marc Keahey II, and Bo Henry Cooper.
A Birmingham native, Rev. Bishop was born on October 10, 1946, the son of Thomas Holly and Wilma Earle Gross Bishop. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Corinth Christian Church, where he was the Pastor. Rev. Bishop served as a pastor at many churches over his career and was loved by all who knew him and also worked security at the Randolph County Courthouse. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mike Bishop.
