Obituary of Ezra "Buddy" Knight

Funeral services for Ezra “Buddy” Knight, age 90, of Wadley, AL, formerly of Chattanooga, TN and Dallas, TX, will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 1:00 PM from Corinth Congregational Christian Church, 341 County Road 833, Wadley, AL 36276, with Rev. Tim Taylor and Rev. Ricky Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to services beginning on Wednesday.

Mr. Knight passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City, Alabama.

Survivors include one sister, Elsie Perry (husband, Donnie) of Roanoke; four brothers, Clifford Knight of Roanoke, Billy Knight (wife, Mary) of Wadley, Franklin Knight of Roanoke, and Manley Knight (wife, Judy) of Mellow Valley, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Roger Albright, Bruce Albright, Scott Knight Taylor, Austin Knight, Michael Bunn, Don Knight, Roger Hester, and Raymond Albright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kem Screws and Johnny Screws.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Knight was born on January 18, 1928, the son of Harlin Dowell and Eva Bernice Hester Knight. He was a member of Corinth Congregational Christian Church, a WWII Army veteran, and a songwriter for Stamps Baxter Music Company. Mr. Knight also worked in sales and distribution, and his hobby was tracing his family history and genealogy. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, R.L. Knight, Tony Knight, and Emory Knight; and two sisters, Velma Albright Nolan and Denia Screws.
