Obituary of George H. Willingham
Funeral services for George Hulen Willingham, 92, of Newnan, formerly of Roanoke, will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 1:00 PM from Big Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Reaves, Rev. Scott Whaley, and Rev. Steve Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, May 18, 2018. Mr. Willingham will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday.
Mr. Willingham passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin, Georgia.
Survivors include: two daughters, Stephnie Wynette (Greg) Tilley of Valley, AL, Chantay Willingham McEwen of Newnan, GA; two sons, George Steven Willingham (Cathy) of Locust Grove, GA, and Kem Shawn Willingham (Shannon) of Lineville; one step-daughter, Tammy Berry (husband, Wayne); seven grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Willingham’s grandsons.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Willingham was born on May 9, 1926, the son of George F. and Jessie Warren Willingham. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran, a member of Big Springs Baptist Church, and worked as a carpenter/homebuilder. Mr. Willingham was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel N. Willingham; a daughter, Rhonda L. Willingham; a granddaughter, Brandy Clifton; one sister; and three brothers.
