Obituary of Barry James Walker
Graveside services for Barry James Walker, age 70, of Roanoke, AL, will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Randolph Memory Gardens with Rev. Wendell Ford officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at Quattlebaum Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 23rd.
Mr. Walker passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Tanner Medical Center-East Alabama.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Gail Rogers Walker of Roanoke; one son, Kevin Walker (wife, April) of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Austin Walker and Kyla Walker; one sister, Debbie Smith of Florida; three brothers, Kem Walker (wife, Katina) of Roanoke, Frederick Walker of Dadeville, and Danny Walker of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Seth Walker, Benji Whaley, Coty Brown, Larry Clark, David Treadwell, Kenneth Treadwell and Randy Moore.
A Chambers County native, Mr. Walker was born on November 25, 1948, the son of Millage and Julia Lois Treadwell Walker. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Walker was a graduate of Auburn University, an avid football fan and season ticket holder. He was also a NASCAR fan and served as Fire Chief of the Rock Stand Fire Department. He had retired from Randolph County Health Department where he worked as an environmentalist. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Bryant Walker.
