Obituary of Myrtle Ruth Crenshaw

Funeral services for Myrtle Ruth Crenshaw, age 79, of Roanoke, will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 4:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Brand and Rev. Jack Viddler officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Caramel Church of Christ Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2019.

Mrs. Crenshaw passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at East Alabama Medical Center.


She is survived by her daughter, Susan Moon of Roanoke; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Bailey of LaGrange, GA, and Francis Giddy of Hogansville, GA; and one brother, J.D. Shaw of Clanton, AL.

Pallbearers will be Jamison Vowell, Kristopher Storey, Neil Kirby, Ian Kirby, Matthew Jacobs, and Kurt Kirby.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mrs. Crenshaw was born on June 27, 1939, the daughter of James C. Shaw and Lottie Hammond. She was a member of Handley Avenue Church of God and had worked for Palm Beach as a seamstress. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Geleves Crenshaw; two children, Dera and James “Jamie” Crenshaw; four brothers, Curtis Shaw, Billy Shaw, Floyd Shaw, and Loy Shaw; and two sisters, Joyce Hammond and Peggy Barrett.
