Obituary of Lawrence Cecil Mitchell

Funeral services for Lawrence Cecil Mitchell, age 80, of Five Points will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019, at 2:00 PM CST at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Chapman officiating.  Burial will follow at Liberty East Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00 PM CST On Sunday, March 17, 2019.

Mr. Mitchell passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019, at West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, GA.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Ramsey Mitchell of Five Points; three sons, Keith Mitchell (wife, Lisa), Allan Mitchell (wife, Laura), Mark Mitchell (wife, Diana), all of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alma Kirby (husband, Bill) of Oxford, Carolyn Rollins (husband, Arnold) of Woodland, Louise Jackson (husband, Gene) of Newnan, and Colley Haynes (husband, Douglas) of Woodland; one brother, Pete Mitchell of Roanoke; and two brothers-in-law, Dennis Ramsey (wife, Dinah) of Roanoke and Larry Ramsey (wife, Carolyn) of Richmond, VA.

Pallbearers will be Walt Stewart, Bill Couch, Gene Jackson, George Wilder, Ty Stewart, and Jimmy Corson.  Honorary pallbearer will be Wendell Lovvorn.

A Woodland native, Mr. Mitchell was born on November 1, 1938, the son of David and Gertrude Brown Mitchell.  He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia and founded Mitchell Marine in LaGrange, Georgia, on March 17, 1977 and operated it for 22 years.  Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gregory Cecil Mitchell; one brother, Charley Wayne Mitchell; and his father and mother-in-law, Clinton and Eva Ramsey.
