OBITUARY
Funeral services for Rodger Dell Whitten age 60 of Wadley will be held Monday July 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Soul's Harbor Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Flowers and Rev. Otis Hodnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Whitten passed away Friday July 1, 2011 at Wedowee Hospital.
Mr. Whitten is survived by his wife Melda Noles Whitten of Wadley; a daughter Cassandra Noles of Conyers, Ga. Four sons Jamie (Liz) Whitten of Prattville, Jason (Reise) Whitten of Newnan, Ga., Joseph (Saundra) Noles of Salem and Andrew ( Ashley) Noles of Five Points; two sisters Earnestine Williams of Roanoke and Gail Ashworth of Selma; two brothers Johnny Whitten of West Point, Ga. And Charlie Whitten of Nashville, Tn; Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Whitten was born June 21, 1951 the son of Jackson and Ava Carden Whitten. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. He was employed by Candlewick Yarns. He was a member of Soul's Harbor Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive flowers or suggest donations to Soul's Harbor Baptist Church, 8485 Highway 431, Roanoke, Alabama 36274.
The family will receive friends at Quattlebaum Funeral Home on Sunday July 3, 2011 from 5 till 8 PM. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
