Obituary of Byron M. Morrison

Funeral services for Byron M. Morrison, age 80, of Roanoke, will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tim Whaley and Rev. Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, August 1st.

Mr. Morrison went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Baker (husband, Guy) of Wedowee and Beth Melton (husband, Adam) of Roanoke; two sons, Keith Morrison of Roanoke and Ken Morrison (wife, Dianna) of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Juliette Cockrell of Alabaster; four brothers, Bill Morrison of Pensacola, FL, Fred Morrison of Delta, Wendell Morrison of Wedowee, and Truman Morrison of Wedowee.

Mr. Morrison’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Morrison was born on December 22, 1938, the son of William Artemus and Velma T. Williams Morrison. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, owner of Morrison Insurance Agency, worked with Randolph County Schools as a bus driver, and worked at Quattlebaum Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Cofield Morrison; his parents; one sister, Dorothy Albright; six brothers, Tom Morrison, Milford Morrison, Jack Morrison, Billy Joe Morrison, George Morrison, and Willis Morrison.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to one’s favorite charity.
