Obituary of Donald Mac Whaley

Funeral services for Donald “Don” Mac Whaley, age 79, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Waldrep, Bro. Gary Baswell, and Bro. Ricky Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Midway United Methodist Church. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM on Sunday, November 17, 2019.

Mr. Whaley passed away Friday, November 15, 2019, at his home. 

Survivors include his wife, Jeraldine Whaley of Roanoke; one daughter, Kathy Butler (Steve) of Roanoke; one son, Alan Whaley (Jan) of Wedowee; two grandchildren, Mike Waldrep (Charity) of Jemison, AL, and Jennifer Newsome (Mitchell) of Roanoke; six great grandchildren, Caitlin Waldrep, Morgan Waldrep, Ridge Waldrep, and Ryder Mac Waldrep all of Wedowee, AL, Pacee Morgan and Kade Morgan both of Roanoke; and one brother, Bayron Whaley (Janell) of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Stan Newton, David Waldrop, Mac Waldrop, Chris Perry, Steve Butler, and Randy Whaley.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Whaley was born on June 27, 1940, the son of Cleveland and Minnie Will Richardson Whaley.  He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church, worked as a truck driver, and served in the United States Navy. Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Clarence Whaley, Gene Whaley, and J.W. Whaley; one niece, Rhonda Whaley; one nephew, Jerry Whaley; and one great nephew, Russ Frye.
