Obituary of Nellie Anne Hallman Hester

Funeral services for Nellie Anne Hallman Hester, age 86, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Atkins, Bro. Fred Flowers, Bro. Otis Hodnett, and Steven Atkins officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM before services begin on Wednesday.

Mrs. Hester passed away Monday, November 25, 2019, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia.

Survivors include: two daughters, Glenda Atkins (Mike) and Gina Daniel (Greg), both of Roanoke; one son, Mike Hester (Anita) of Ft. Payne, AL; eight grandchildren, Steven Atkins, Andrew Atkins, Nick Hester, Lauren McBride, Matthew Daniel, Jacob Daniel, Eric Johnson, and Emil Loeken; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Atkins, Andrew Atkins, Nick Hester, Jordan McBride, Matthew Daniel, Jacob Daniel, Eric Johnson, and Emil Loeken.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Hester’s great-grandchildren.

A Roanoke native, Mrs. Hester was born on January 10, 1933, the daughter of Emmett O’Neal and Lula Pearl Wilkerson Hallman.  She was a member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church, was the church piano player for over 60 years, and worked as a Secretary for Randolph County Ambulance Service.  Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Harold Hester; and an infant brother.
