Funeral services for Charles Manley Clack, age 81, of Roanoke will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Clayton Scott and Bro. L. P. "Pat" Heuer officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Mr. Clack passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Frances Clack of Roanoke; one daughter, Ellen Clack of Roanoke; one son, Charles William Clack (Melinda) of Wetumpka; two grandchildren, William Jody Clack and Andrew Jordan Clack; one sister, Sarah Jean Satterwhite of Roanoke; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be David Harmon, Darryl Harmon, Will Clack, Andy Clack, Eddie Pike, and Ted Strain. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alabama Army National Guard. A Randolph County native, Mr. Clack was born on February 21, 1938, the son of William Bryan and Eura Wilson Clack. He was a graduate of the Handley High School Class of 1956 and retired from the Alabama Army National Guard and federal civil service. Mr. Clack was a member of High Pine Baptist Church and had been an active member of the Handley Quarterback Club and the Jaycees. Upon retiring with 43 years of service, the State of Alabama honored Mr. Clack by naming the Roanoke Army National Guard Armory after him. He also had served as Troup 22 Scoutmaster in Roanoke and received the Silver Beaver Award by the George H. Lanier Council and served on the Roanoke City School’s Board of Education. Mr. Clack was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas B. Clack; and one sister, Janice E. Barnes. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
