Obituary of Donnie Ray Rice

Funeral services for Donnie Ray Rice, age 73, of Roanoke will be held on Monday, March 23, 2020, at 1:00 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church with Bro. David Glass officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, March 22, 2020. Mr. Rice will lie in state at the church for one hour on Monday, March 23 before services begin. Mr. Rice passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Survivors include one son, Shane Rice of LaGrange, GA; one sister, Barbara Rice of Roanoke; and two brothers, Michael Rice and Ronnie Rice, both of Roanoke. A West Point, Georgia native, Mr. Rice was born on March 13, 1947, the son of Larry Jackson and Avis Beck Rice. He was a United States Air Force veteran and worked as a carpenter. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Rice.
