Graveside services for Gary Melton, age 65, of Wadley will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at 3:00 PM at Forrester’s Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Donald Kirk and Bro. Brent Noles officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Melton passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Melton of Wadley; one daughter, Tiffany Canaan (Cheney) of Kansas; two sons, Scotty Davis of Prague, OK, and Shane Davis of Auburn, AL; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Retha Cox of Turian, KS, Sylvia Herren of Woodland and Janet Smith of Wedowee; and three brothers, Fred Melton of Valley, Larry Melton of Roanoke, and Bruce Melton of El Paso, TX.
Pallbearers will be Colby Noles, Clint Morris, Dakota Davis, Tyler Davis, Trenton Canaan, and Dawson Canaan.
A Wadley native, Mr. Melton was born on September 15, 1954, the son of Andrew Jackson and Millie Jane McDonald Melton. He was a member of Hope Memorial Christian Church and worked as a rig welder for Six C Fabrication. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rose Craven, Linda Boyd, and Georgeann Wood; and brothers, Donald Melton and J. V. “Smiley” Melton.
