Obituary of Charles R. Shelnutt

Funeral services for Charles R. Shelnutt, age 77, of Roanoke, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 10:00 AM CST at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Billy Prince, Jr. and Bro. Tyler Worthy officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Taylor’s Crossroads Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM CST on Monday, May 18, 2020. Mr. Shelnutt passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Linda McVey Shelnutt of Roanoke; three daughters, Rhonda Stitley (Mark) of Oxford, AL, Lisa Sheerin (Rick) of Rome, GA, and Lianne Barrett (Shane) of Sharpsburg, GA; one son, Jeff Shelnutt (Jodi) of Sharpsburg, GA; his mother, Eunice Shelnutt of Marietta, GA; two step-children, Marcie Brock of Newnan, GA and Tommy Calhoun of Moreland, GA; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ann Mills (Jerry) of Marietta, GA. Pallbearers will be Nathan Stitley, Nick Stitley, Nolan Stitley, Chase Kimberly, Joshua Barrett, Dylan Barrett, Jonathan Barrett, and Drake Shelnutt. An Alexander City, AL native, Mr. Shelnutt was born on July 30, 1942, the son of Charlie Nathaniel and Clara Eunice Messer Shelnutt. He was Church of Christ by faith and had worked and retired from Ford Motor Company. He loved spending time at the lake and enjoyed playing dominoes. Mr. Shelnutt was preceded in death by his father.
