Obituary of Samuel Leonard Lewis
Funeral services for Samuel Leonard “Skinny” Lewis, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 12:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Williams, Bro. Keith Benefield, and Bro. S. T. Janney officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Tuesday before services begin.
Mr. Lewis passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Traylor’s Nursing Center.
Survivors include his wife, Darthy Lewis of Roanoke; one daughter, Pam Williams (Steve) of Roanoke; two sons, Terry Lewis (Jackie) of LaGrange, GA, and Michael Lewis (Anne) of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Colt Tipton, Ryan Hart, Justin Fambro, Tim Pollard, James Clegg, Paul Lewis, and Mike Potts.
A Wehadkee native, Mr. Lewis was born on April 11, 1933, the son of Franklin Pierce and Eula Costley Lewis. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and was a self-employed mechanic. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; wife and mother of his children, Jo Anne Lewis; son, Samuel Joe Lewis; sister, Rachel Pinkard; and brothers, Frank Lewis, Tommy Jack Lewis, Lonnie B. Lewis, Edward Lewis, and Winfred Lewis.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Community Studies Class at Handley High School—100 Tiger Circle, Roanoke, AL, C/o Cadie Tipton or Meredith Sears.
