Funeral services for Donald E. Truitt, age 64, of Roanoke, will be held Monday, September 14, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Roanoke Church of Christ with Bro. Gerald Romine and Bro. Tim Whaley officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Monday beginning at 12:30 pm.

Mr. Truitt passed away September 12, 2020, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Brown Truitt of Roanoke; one son, Brandon Truitt (Kristin) of Tuscaloosa; one granddaughter, Maria Collins Truitt of Tuscaloosa; one sister, Laura Owens of Marietta.

A lifelong Roanoke resident, Mr. Truitt was born September 11, 1956, the son of Wynona Knight.  He began his career with the Roanoke City Police Department in 1984 and served 30 years, attaining the rank of Captain.  He was a member of Roanoke Church of Christ and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Pallbearers will be Jody Bozeman, Matthew Brown, Mark Farmer, Marc Jackson, Bernard Dean, Stacey Brooks and Lorenzo Foster. 

Members of the Roanoke Police Department, the Roanoke Fire Department, Mike Sheppard, Donnie Grant, Sr. and Pat Whaley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
