Funeral services for K. Gaines Meigs, age 79, of Daviston will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Keith Meigs officiating.  Burial will follow at Daviston Methodist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

Mr. Meigs passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Faye Meigs of Daviston; one son, Keith L. Meigs (Stephanie) of Daviston; one daughter, Tammy Jackson (Nick, Jr.) of LaFayette; four grandchildren, Kyle Jackson (LaRae) of LaFayette, Tiffany Pitchford (Jonathan) of New Site, Katie McElvy (D.J.) of LaFayette, and Lance Meigs (Erica) of Daviston; nine great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Jackson, Emmalee Jackson, Landry Jackson, Rock Jackson, Jadon Pitchford, Clara Ann Pitchford, Allison McElvy, Jackson McElvy, and Hunter Meigs; and three brothers, Joe Meigs (Ann) of Alex City, Floyd Meigs of Perryville, and Webster Meigs of Wadley.

Pallbearers will be Lance Meigs, Jonathan Pitchford, Kyle Jackson, D. J. McElvy, Jerry Bice, and Floyd Meigs.

A Daviston native, Mr. Meigs was born to Floyd and Vida Welsh Meigs on January 27, 1941. He was a member of Daviston United Methodist Church where he served as song leader for many years. He was the owner of Gaines Meigs Logging until his retirement in 2009. Most recently, he drove a special needs school bus for Tallapoosa County Schools. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carey Meigs igs; and sisters, Sue Meigs Wilkerson and Rebecca Meigs.
