Graveside services for Helen Anna Marie Gillespie, age 92, of Lafayette will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Randolph Memory Gardens with Bro. Greg Norred and Bro. Jeff Sheffield officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gillespie passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.

Survivor include: one daughter, Bonnie Lynn Yerta (Keith) of Roanoke; two sons, Earl Lee Gillespie (Barbara) of Milton, FL, and Gary Alvin Gillespie (Sharon) of Rock Mills; nine grandchildren, Jason Gillespie, Shanna Wright, Fred Brooks, Lori Brooks, Keishia Norred, Wendy Pike, Donna Dunham, Josh Yerta, and Stacey Yerta; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosalie Wenck (Bob) of Lafayette and Shirley McCord (Richard) of Glen Burnie, MD; two brothers, Donald Knott (Virginia) of Standing Rock, AL, and Alvin Knott of Glen Burnie, MD; and one sister-in-law, Catherine Kruger of Glen Burnie, MD.

Pallbearers will be Christian Gillespie, Jordan Gillespie, Braxton Yerta, Peyton Yerta, Isaac Wright, and Alex Wright.

A Maryland native, Mrs. Gillespie was born on July 20, 1928, the daughter of Leo and Mollie Johnson Knott.  She was a member of the Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene and worked as a cook at Hardee’s.  Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Gillespie; one sister, Jane Burke; and two brothers, Leo Knott and Raymond Knott.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene at 66447 Highway 22, Roanoke, AL 36274.
