Obituary of Larry Joe Norred

Funeral services for Larry Joe Norred, age 73, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. Larry McDaniel and Bro. Tim Whaley officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2021.  Mr. Norred will lie in state at the church for two hours prior to services beginning on Sunday.

Mr. Norred passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Penn Norred of Roanoke; two daughters, Dana Norred-Moody of Franklin, GA, and Stephania Norred Thompson (Scott) of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Robert Moody (Anna), Larry Ryan Moody, Russ Moody, Kasidy Rose Thompson, and Britten Thompson; and one brother, Buck Norred (Jane) of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Fred Norred, Kinnie Calhoun, Russell Norred, Bobby Norred, Charles Norred, and Jamie Norred.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Fellowship Baptist Church and Mr. Norred’s nephews.

A Roanoke native, Mr. Norred was born on May 6, 1947, the son of Dalph C. and Flossie Truitt Norred.  He was a Deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church and served on the cemetery committee and worked as a truck driver for Amoco Fabrics and Fibers.  Mr. Norred was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Earline Arnett, Opal Yarbrough, and Bovine Fisher; and five brothers, Virgil Norred, Leonard Norred, Jimmy Norred, Billy Ray Norred, and Ronnie Norred.
