Obituary of Bethany Shelnutt

Funeral services for Bethany Shelnutt, age 73, of Roanoke, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Forest Home Baptist Church with Bro. Anthony Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Ms. Shelnutt will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services beginning on Thursday.

Ms. Shelnutt died February 15, 2021, at Tanner East Alabama Medical Center, Wedowee, AL.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Shelnutt of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Makayla Manning of Auburn, AL, and Tyler Perry (Kayla) of Wedowee, AL; one great-granddaughter, Lily Perry of Wedowee, AL; sister, Rachel Sikes of Roanoke, AL; and many nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Reggie Sikes, John Burson, Josh Burson, Steve Owens, Mark Muldrew, and Michael Manning.

A Roanoke, AL, native, Ms. Shelnutt was born November 20, 1947, the daughter  of James Nathan and Atha Joyce Barrett Sikes.  She was a spinner at Mohawk.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janet Sikes; and brothers, Buddy Sikes, and David Sikes.
