Obituary of Bonnie Hartley Emery

Funeral services for Bonnie Hartley Emery, age 62, of Roanoke will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Head, Dr. Mike Ragland, and Rev. Ricky Emery officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, February 21, 2021.  Mrs. Emery will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday.

Mrs. Emery went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at her residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky Emery of Roanoke; a son, John Emery (Mia) of Roanoke; daughters, Jessica Hand (Scottie) and Allison Emery, both of Roanoke; an unofficial adopted daughter, Ashley Jordan of Roanoke; and two grandchildren, Jaxon and Sadie Emery.

Pallbearers will be the men of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

A lifelong Randolph County resident, “Miss Bonnie” was born on November 19, 1958, the daughter of Clyde Aaron and Eleanor Grace Hartley.  She was a 1977 graduate of Handley High School and a 2010 graduate of Titus Baptist Bible College.  Mrs. Emery was a homemaker and faithful partner to her husband in The Gospel ministry for nearly 40 years, during which time she touched countless lives with her loving, gracious, and kind spirit and with her witness for Jesus Christ.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Randy Hartley.
