Obituary of Barbara Rogers Bates

Funeral services for Barbara Rogers Bates, age 77, of Wadley, Alabama, will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. John Roberts and Bro. John Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Primitive Baptist Church in Wadley.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, March 19, 2021.

Mrs. Bates passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Atlanta, Georgia. 

Survivors include her husband, Henry “Red” Bates of Wadley; son, Neal Bates; grandchildren, Scotty Lee Brown, Stephen Jenkins, Joshua Shane Brown, and Audriana Hunter; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Hunter, and Joshua Elijah Brown; sister, Joyce Mitchell; brother, Paul Rogers; and nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Leon Rogers, Steven Rogers, Ted Mitchell, John Mitchell, Rodney Franklin and Randy Franklin. 

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Bates was born on August 14, 1943, the daughter of Herbert Leon and Ozella Hicks Rogers. She was a machine operator for Plantation Patterns.  Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Stacy Brown; stepdaughter, Brenda Jenkins; and sister, Doris Rogers Gray.
