Obituary of Hugh Eudorsey Pike
Graveside services for Hugh Eudorsey Pike, age 92, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Randolph Memory Gardens with Bro. Mike Brewer officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pike passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, GA.
Survivors include: two sons, Phillip D. Pike (Kay) and Gregory Lee Pike, both of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Rachaell Dowda, Ashley Pike, Mandy Sierca, Amber Crawford, and Benjamin Pike; five great-grandchildren, Taylor Dowda, Brandon Dowda, Ashton Pike, Callan Pike, Nick Pike, and Marcus Sierca; one great-great-grandchild, Malachi Pike; and two sisters, Erma Gene Stitt of Roanoke and Jackie Howard of Rock Mills.
A longtime Randolph County resident, Mr. Pike was born in Newnan, GA, the son of Doyle and Vester Hammond Pike. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and retired as a Captain with the Dekalb County Fire Department in Georgia. Mr. Pike was an Army Airborne Ranger (lead scout) wounded in Korea, receiving a Purple Heart, and had 21 jumps into battle. He especially loved his granddaughters Rachaell, Ashley, and Amber. They were Gwen and Dorsey’s world. Mr. Pike was dearly loved his two sons, Phillip and Greg. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gwendolyn Rainwater Pike; one great-grandson, Chad Bolton; one sister, Louise Knight; and one brother, Sonny Pike.
