OBITUARY Funeral services for Omie Hester Burgess age 92, of Roanoke, will be held Thursday, December 8, 2011, at 1:00 pm from Rock Mills Methodist Church with Rev. Jamie Taylor and Rev. Bill Boggan officiating. Mrs. Burgess will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from at 10:30 AM -12:00 noon on Thursday, December 8th. Pallbearers will be Bobby Kirby, Johnny Earnest, Stanly Earnest, Matt Kirby, Ron Cramer, Carey Holloway. Mrs. Burgess died Sunday, December 4, 2011, at her daughter's residence. Survivors include one daughter Emily (Ricky) Nix of Montgomery, two sisters, Wilma Davis of Cave Spring, GA, and Betty McClain of Rome GA, three brothers Moody Hester of Columbus GA, John Morgan Hester of Lagrange, GA, and Willis Hester of Ringgold, GA, and many precious nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver Patsy Brown. Mrs. Burgess was born, June 1, 1919, the daughter of Hugh and Minnie Pearl Hester. She was a member of the Rock Mills Methodist Church and had worked as a nurse for 50 years. Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her husband, M. L. Burgess; her parents; two sisters, Macie Hendrix and Mary Ann Gaines; four brothers, James Hester, Clyde Hester, Wallace Hester, Thomas Jefferson Hester.
