Obituary of Marie Bailey Bradley
Funeral services for Marie Bailey Bradley, age 102, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM CST at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM CST on Saturday before services begin.
Mrs. Bradley passed away Monday, April 5, 2021, in Thomasville, Georgia.
Survivors include: one daughter, Gayle Mato (husband, Thomas); two grandchildren, Stephen and Emma Mato; thirteen nephews and eight nieces; and several loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A Roanoke native, Mrs. Bradley was born on February 25, 1919, the daughter of Henry Grady Bailey, Sr., and Ethel Meacham Bailey. There is no denying that Marie had a heart of gold. She loved her family with all her heart and cared for them throughout her life. Marie’s dedication to family and friends, and her concern, kindness, self-sacrifice, compassion, and unconditional love for others offer only a glimpse of an exceptional lady who was loved and admired and will be missed by all.
Mrs. Bradley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ovid “Preach” Bradley; three nephews; one niece; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was the oldest of 11 children and the last surviving family member of four brothers, Braxton “Bud” Bailey, Quinton Bailey, H. g. “Junior “Bailey, Jr., and Douglas Bailey; and five sister, Ruth Mickle, Margie Reaves, Barnelle Nix, Jeanette Wellborn, and Patricia Willoughby; and baby brother Bailey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one’s local hospice organization.
