Obituary of Eva McCollum Ramsey

OBITUARY Funeral services for, Eva McCollum Ramsey, age 93, of Roanoke, will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 18, 2011, from High Pine Baptist Church with Rev. Richie Farrah, Rev. Kevin Ramsey and Rev. Marvin Luttrell officiating. Mrs. Ramsey will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in adjoining church cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2011. Pallbearers will be Keith Mitchell, Allan Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, Rick Valentine, Jimmy Corson and Ricky Stringer. Honorary pallbearers will be Manley Clack, Jack Anglin, Sidney Moore, Wilbur Stewart, Herbert Denham, Tony Weathers, Pete Holloway and Jimmy Young. Mrs. Ramsey died Friday, December 16, 2011, at Traylor Nursing Home. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by one daughter, JoAnn (husband Cecil) Mitchell of Five Points; two sons, Larry (wife Carolyn) Ramsey of Richmond, VA, Dennis (wife Dinah) Ramsey of Cordelle, GA; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Mrs. Ramsey was born July 23, 1918, the daughter of Wiley and Janie Nolen McCollum. She was a member of High Pine Baptist Church, had worked for Palm Beach Company and retired from Playtex. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Ramsey; her parents; one grandchild, Gregory C. Mitchell; four sisters; two brothers.
