Obituary of Robert Bishop Hodges

Funeral services for Robert Bishop “Pete” Hodges, age 79, of Roanoke, Alabama, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday July 11, 2021, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Brady Bell and Bro. Ricky Cannon officiating.  Burial will follow in the Concord Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 10th. Mr. Hodges will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the services beginning on Sunday.

Mr. Hodges passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Traylor’s Nursing Home.

Survivors include: three sisters, Carole Holt Powell of Valley, AL, Linda Harrington of Ringgold, GA, and Janette (Michael) Cofield of LaFayette AL: two brothers, Charles E. Hodges and Larry Don Hodges, both of Roanoke; two nieces and four nephews; and four great-nieces and five great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dwain Holt, Randyl Dunlap, Michael Cofield, Jr., James Smith, Michael Cofield, Sr., Ed Harris, Lankford Brown, and Gregory Meek.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Hodges was born August 20, 1941, the son of Randle and Cordie Woodard Hodges. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a Mt. Olive Volunteer firefighter. Retired from Mohawk, Mr. Hodges was an Avid Alabama and UAB football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Robert and Addie Lee Harvell Woodard and Marvin and Nancy Radney Hodges; niece, Sonya Holt Taylor: nephew, Gregory Harrington; sister-in-law, Janice Hodges: and brothers-in-law: Raymond Holt, Butch Harrington, and Ralph Powell.

Memorials may be floral or the family requests donations to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3105 County Road 237 Roanoke, Alabama 36274.
