Obituary of Paul "Randy" Moon
Funeral services for Paul “Randy” Moon, age 63, of Opelika will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Thursday, August 26, 2021.
Randy was born in the hospital in LaFayette, Alabama, on November 14, 1957. He attended Roanoke City Schools and was a member of the Handley High School Class of 1976. He went on to attend Auburn University eventually graduating in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in Building Construction. In the intervening years between high school and graduating from Auburn, Randy gained vast experience in many industries working in various areas of maintenance, utilities, construction and management.
Randy was currently employed by the University of South Alabama as Associate Vice President of Facilities Management in Mobile, Alabama. Starting with “South” in January 2010, Randy held various positions with the University and oversaw many construction projects both on the main campus and other properties involving the University’s healthcare mission.
Prior to joining the staff at University of South Alabama, Randy was with Auburn University for 19 years, most recently as Director of Maintenance and Operations. He also worked at Dexter Lock in Auburn, Alabama, Diversified Products in Opelika, Alabama, and Briggs & Stratton in Auburn, Alabama.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jackie; son, Jason, his wife, Megan; and granddaughter, Sophia. Randy is also survived by his sister, Wanda Brasseal (Scott) and nephews, Brian Brasseal, Wesley Brasseal and their wives and families.
Pallbearers will be Jason Moon, Scott Brasseal, Brian Brasseal, Wesley Brasseal, Paul Brasseal, and Joe Lewis.
Mr. Moon was born on November 14, 1957, the son of Paul and Helen Moon. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Trent and Ruth Moon, Cepheus and Carrie Moree, all of Roanoke, Alabama.
