Obituary of Modene W. French

Graveside services for Modene W. French, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Randolph Memory Gardens with Rev. Josh Hickman officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 AM on Wednesday morning before services begin.

Mrs. French passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, in Clay County, Alabama.

Survivors include one daughter, Suncelia Stewart (Steve) of Wedowee; two sons, Travis Nelson (Debbie) of Morrison’s Crossroads and Stanley French, Jr. (Nell) of Millbrook, AL; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. French was born on August 11, 1934, the daughter of Clarence and Hannie Kirby Williamson.  She was a member of the Roanoke First United Methodist Church and worked as a secretary for Stevenson Insurance in Roanoke.  Mrs. French was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W. S. French, Sr.; and one sister, Ellowayne Prather.
