Obituary of Gloria Pool Calhoun

Funeral services for Gloria Pool Calhoun, age 91, of Roanoke, AL, will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeff Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 – 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

Mrs. Calhoun passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at her residence.

Survivors include her daughter, Shelia McKinley (Mack) of Carrollton, GA; son, Steve Calhoun (Lori) of Lafayette, AL; son-in-law, Craig Howard (Julie) of Hogansville, GA; five grandchildren, Sean McKinley (Wynter), Kim McKinley, Amanda Hill (Ronnie), Adam Calhoun (Megan), and Garrett Sanders (Megan); 14 great-grandchildren, Dylan McKinley, Grant McKinley, Lilianna McKinley, Isabella Ripatti, Aiden Hill, Johnny Hill, Kendra Hill (Wesley Crenshaw), Grace Hill, Landon Calhoun, Bella Calhoun, River Calhoun, Rose Calhoun, Olivia Sanders and Jax Sanders; great-great-grandchild, Paisley Crenshaw; and sister, Louise Melton (Reuben) of Atlanta, GA;

Pallbearers will be Tim Jackson, Calvin Worthey, Rick Webb, Fred Hill, Charles Mote and Tyler Worthey.

A Roanoke native, Mrs. Calhoun was born on December 13, 1930, the daughter of Mansel Pool and Effie Martha Price Pool.  She was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church since its beginning, March 2, 1986.  She loved flower gardens and keeping her yard immaculate. She loved the outdoors and loved to quilt. She loved to watch the Braves ballgames and NASCAR where she cheered for #24 Jeff Gordon. She served as a supervisor and had been employed by Palm Beach, Fashion Star and Stephanie Fashions. Mrs. Calhoun was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Calhoun, daughter, Wanda Gail Howard; brother, Robert Pool and sister-in-law, Betty Pool.
