Obituary of Jimmy Wayne Burks

Funeral services for Jimmy Wayne Burks, age 58, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Larry McDaniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Wehadkee Cemetery in Rock Mills, Alabama.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM On Monday, March 28, 2022.

Mr. Burks passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

Survivors include his wife of 32 ½ years, Mae Dean Howard Burks of Roanoke; one daughter, Katie Richardson (Justin) of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Laci Richardson and Haley Richardson; three sisters, Becky Burks and Beth Kirby (Russell), both of Roanoke, and Tina Burks of Rock Mills; two brothers, Timmy Burks of Rock Mills and Tony Burks (Christy) of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Stevie Burks, Jeremy Burks, Tony Burks, Timmy Burks, Terry Hand, and Lon Howard.

A lifelong Roanoke/Rock Mills resident, Mr. Burks was born on May 12, 1963, the son of Wallace Nathan and Janice Turner Burks.  He attended Fellowship Baptist Church and worked as a mill worker for Wehadkee, Franklin Aluminum, Amoco Fabrics & Fibers, Miliken, and Wal-Mart.  Mr. Burks enjoyed Nascar and drag-racing and watching the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction on television.  He loved riding his Harley Davidson and more than anything, he loved his family.  Mr. Burks was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Lee Burks.
