OBITUARY Funeral services for, Lillian Houston Watson, age 83, of Roanoke, will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 31, 2012, from St. Paul Baptist Church with Rev. Jeffery Rosser and Rev. J. D. Darden officiating. Mrs. Watson will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in East Roanoke Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:45 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 30, 2012. Pallbearers will be Larry McFarland, Timothy Foster, Chris Treadwell, Larry Rachel, Dallas McFarland and William Treadwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Joiner, Thomas Watson, Jr., Brad Watson, Sanford Watson, Arthur Rudd, Willis Trammell and John Joseph. Mrs. Watson died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Hospice LaGrange. Mrs. Watson is survived by five daughters, Jacquelyn (husband Arthur)Rudd of Memphis, TN, Barbara (husband Willis) Trammell of Lanett, Rebecca Dianne (husband John) of Houston, TX, Jean Joiner of Opelika, Linda Watson Nelson of Charlotte, NC; four sons, Robert Joiner of Detroit, MI, Thomas (wife Carolyn) Watson, JR, and Sanford Watson both of Roanoke, Brad Eugene (wife Stacey) Watson of Stanford, VA; one sister, Mary Ruth (husband Emory) Magby of Valley; fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Watson was born Nov. 20, 1928, the daughter of Ed and Viola Hambrick Houston. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Watson, SR; her parents; one child, Sarah Watson; one grandchild, Brad Watson, Jr.; three brothers, Edward, James, and Mathis Houston; six sisters, Izora, Annie Laura, Mattie, Eddie Mae, and a sister who died at birth.
