Obituary of Sarah Foster Mickle

Funeral services for Sarah Foster Mickle, age 86, of LaGrange will be held at 12 noon (Central time) on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Caleb Nicholson officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 am on Tuesday.

Mrs. Mickle passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Hospice LaGrange, in LaGrange, Georgia.

Survivors include: two daughters, Melanie Carruth Bowles and Melinda Morrow Smith, both of LaGrange, GA; one son, Radney Lee Carruth of Five Points; three grandchildren, Ben Bowles, Bryan Bowles, and Brandon Wright; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anne Nelson of Fayetteville, GA.

Mrs. Mickle was born in Bacon Level, Alabama, on December 8, 1935, to John Wesley (J. W.)  and Mattie Lou Barfield Foster, Mrs. Mickle lived most of her life in Abbottsford, Georgia.  She was a member of Forest Home Christian Church and a retired mortgage lender where she worked for Chemical Financial and the Bank of New York.  Upon her retirement, she followed her passion for insurance where she was an independent agent for Met Life.  Mrs. Mickle owned and operated Woods Superette.  After closing Woods Superette, she worked part time in grocery retail and as an accounting clerk and bookkeeper for Thompson Pest Control, and was a caregiver.  Mrs. Mickle was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother.  She had a passion for cooking and helping others.  Her favorite pastime was lounging by the pool and enjoying the sounds of the ocean. 

Mrs. Mickle was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Frank Carruth and Paul Mickle; one son, Gregory Lee Carruth; one brother, James Foster; and four sisters, Ruby Pendergrass, Louise Flynt, Helen Hazel, and Neva Talley.
