Obituary of Joyce Parmer Cole
Joyce Parmer Cole, age 79, of Roanoke, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, at University Hospital in Birmingham.
The family will receive friends at Quattlebaum Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Shumpert (Jim) of Auburn; one son, Pace Cole (Kandy) of Oneonta; three grandchildren, Charles Oakley Shumpert, Madison Alea Cole and Emma Grace Cole; sister-in-law, Diane Parmer of Roanoke; brother-in-law, Tyre Cole of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Cole was born May 8, 1943, the daughter of Walter Lee and Ruby O. V. Weldon Parmer. She was a member of Community Life Church and had retired from Roanoke City School system after 25 years of teaching, with most of her career as a third-grade teacher at Knight Enloe Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve Cole; two brothers, Jerry Parmer and C. L. Parmer; two sisters-in-law, Vicky Louise Cole and Jeanette Parmer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Community Life Church (c/o Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 319 College Street, Roanoke, AL 36274).
