Obituary of Kay Holmes

Funeral services for Wilma Kay Holmes, age 75, of Wadley, will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Wadley First United Methodist Church with Pastor Brad Kimble officiating.  Burial will follow at Wadley Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022.  Mrs. Holmes will lie in state at the church for one hour beginning at 12 noon on Friday.

Mrs. Holmes passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at her home.

Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Holmes Guarneri (Randy) of Birmingham and Tiffany Adams (Nathan) of Wadley; three sons, Jimmy Holmes of Wadley, Mark Holmes (Kim) of Wadley and Marshall Scott Holmes (Tiffany) of Bonaire, GA; one brother, Donnie Denney (Nancy) of Birmingham; eleven grandchildren andthree great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tom Denney, Jeff Denney, Joel Perry, Elliott Cotney, Joseph Perry, and John Cooper.

A lifelong Wadley resident, Mrs. Holmes was born September 20, 1947, the daughter of Styles Marshall Denney and Wilma Stewart Denney.  She was a member of Wadley First United Methodist Church and Delta Kappa Gamma.  She was a retired teacher and had taught at the Randolph Roanoke Area Vocational School in Wedowee.  Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Berless Holmes; one sister, Joann Coker; three brothers, Stewart Denney, Jerry Denney and Robert Denney.
