Obituary of Reba Garrett Ramsey

OBITUARY Funeral services for Reba Garrett Ramsey, age 82, of Roanoke, will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, June 2, 2012, from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Dean officiating. Burial to follow in High Pine Baptist Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 1st, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her five grandsons and one great grandson. Mrs. Ramsey died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Wedowee Hospital. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by two daughters, Betty Ramsey of Roanoke, Rita Denton and husband David of Roanoke; two sons, Allen L. Ramsey Jr. and wife Barbara of Roanoke, Chet Ramsey and wife Beth of Tallassee; one brother, Braxton Garrett and wife Mary Jim of Wadley; two sisters, Juanita Simpson of Roanoke, Pauline Garrett of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, Tracy Adamson, Amy Howe, Josh Huddleston, Betsy Hodo, Chase Ramsey, Adam Ramsey, Aaron Ramsey, Austin Ramsey; three great grandchildren, Kolby Smith, Megan Howe and Korey Smith; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ramsey was born June 21, 1929, the daughter of Johnie H. and Heard Pool Garrett. She was a member of High Pine Baptist Church, had been a nurse for the Wadley Clinic, and retired as part of the surgical team of Randolph County Hospital. Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her husband, Allen L. Ramsey, SR; her parents; one grandson, David Ramsey; two brothers; two sisters.
