Obituary of Edward "Eddie" Shelnutt

Funeral services for Edward Z. Shelnutt, age 79, of Roanoke will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Joshua Holloway officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Mr. Shelnutt passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce Shelnutt of Roanoke; one sister, Sara Williamson of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Andy Gray, Bryant Gray, Blake Gray, Jojo Hendricks, Trent Shelnutt, and Hunter Williamson.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Shelnutt was born on December 1, 1943, the son of Corbin and Elizabeth Key Shelnutt.  He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict and worked as a loom fixer at Amoco Fabrics and Fibers and Mohawk before retiring.  Mr. Shelnutt loved being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or tending to his garden.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Abigale Strain and Carolyn Johnson; and five brothers, Wylie Shelnutt, Bonnie Shelnutt, Barrett Shelnutt, William Shelnutt, and Ronald Joe Shelnutt.
